I've been really happy with the Gosh mini lacquers I was recently sent to review and giveaway. For a nail product that is affordable for all, they really are good. The new GOSH Nail Glitter is the latest and right on trend. On the one hand (excuse the pun) I am filled with excitement, I love a bit of glitz. On the other with my track record for being rather messy, I am filled with dread at the calamity I may cause on my surroundings when applying.
To ensure less fall out I stood at the kitchen sink, I know not very glamorous, I was surprised actually to cope quite well, just paint your nail with clear nail varnish then dip in the glitter pot. I laid a large sheet of paper on the draining board, painted one nail at a time and allowed to dry. I feel that this ensured each application could be dealt with to ensure a good finish and to clean up after each one. Its handy at the sink as any glitter rinses easily away.
I did still have a little glitter sparkling all over my hands under my nail which got a tidy up after this, oh and oops a spaarkly camera for this one shot, I quickly gave up taking pics as the camera is only two weeks old so make sure its perfectly dry.
I showered (planned to anyway as I was going out) when my nails were dry and that sorted sparkly hands.
Now if you know a top tip for applying glitter let me know in your entry bonus entry in fact!!
Now I have thanks to the lovely Gosh 10 of these sparkly prizes for followers they will be random colours chosen by Gosh and sent to the winners, but they are all rather scrummy.

The nails look fab - I guess for even coverage you have to dip them in the pot, but I wonder if a little shaker might work?

Hmm... something about me?
ReplyDeleteI've spent all week at work looking forward to the weekend and now I can't decide what to do with myself. Feeling like a load of housework is a Sunday wasted, but it's a bit scummy out so don't really want to walk anywhere! Therefore I may do a short run, then some housework and maybe some painting. I want to do some more blogging but I can't think of anything interesting to say today!
Hi Hi Hi!

ReplyDeleteI've not used glitter on my nails before but I use a lot in crafting (and if I win these, I think any colours that don't work for me will find their way into my craft box). [What am I talking about, "Craft Box?" - make that craft boxes, and drawers, and cupboards]
ReplyDeleteSo, getting back to the point, I think I would apply these the same way I apply glitter to my craftwork, by pouring it over my nails while resting my hand on a piece of folded paper, then shake the excess of and use the folded paper to steer the remaining glitter back into the pot.
I might even try rubbinh my hands - but not my nails - with my crafter's anti-static pad to help prevent surplus glitter sticking to them.
.... sorry for rambling so much.....

My day has been ok. We did home school this morning, then I took the kids off for a couple of hours of forest school this afternoon. We built a shelter, made damfers (out of flour, water and a bit of sugar) and baked them on a fire we had made. Great outdoors stuff that all ages enjoyed from 4 - 11 years old.
ReplyDelete@mumoffunkids
My top tip is to use something like a cocktail stick or cuticle removing stick to carefully clear away the excess before it dries too hard and before applying a top coat of clear varnish.

Today I went to the gym with my boyfriend (who by the way enjoys mixed martial arts).
ReplyDeleteHe decided to get the boxing gloves and pads out and "train me up".
So there I am punching away feeling immense because I wasn't doing too bad.. and then as I throw this super awesome punch he dodges out of the way, I lose my balance and end up on the floor with everyone around just staring / laughing / walking away quickly...
Dohhh haha :)

And my hint for applying glitter to naild would be the way I apply glitter to anything else -
ReplyDeleteI'd sprinkle it on (even put it in a proper glitter shaker pot) while resting my hand on card, then pour the excess back in the pot. I'd also wipe off any that was stuck to my hand with a makeup wipe hehe :)

Let me tell you about my day, it hasn't been good, everyone in the house has got really bad colds, except for my hubby who always seems to get away with it!! So it has been a day spent indoors watching tv and blowing noses!
ReplyDeleteWhen doing it instead of using a clear polish use a coloured polish in the same colour tone as the glitter that way you can see more accurately on the nail where you have covered and that you haven't taken it right up to the cuticle etc making it look messy, also a good coat or two of seche vite top coat can turn it into a smooth glassy finish that will last for ages.
